Inspiring Diverse Researchers in Virginia (iDRIV) Scholars
Inspiring Diverse Researchers in Virginia (iDRIV) Scholars program is founded on a dual commitment: supporting the success of exceptional investigators and building a diverse research community to enhance our mission of improving human health. Diverse research teams foster greater creativity and productivity, yet this diversity is underrepresented in the current scientific workforce. The iDRIV program aims to accelerate the research careers of early-career and aspiring faculty at UVA through education, coaching, mentoring, and sponsorship tailored to early career biomedical science researchers. https://www.ithriv.org/idriv-program:
Eligibility:
-
Clinical (M.D.) and Post-Doctoral (Ph.D.) Fellows, Clinical Instructor, Research Scientist, Assistant Professor, and Early Associate Professor (<5 years)
-
Committed to a career in clinical or translational research
-
**Individuals from historically or currently underrepresented groups in biomedical science as described by the NIH, including but not limited to, underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and women are encouraged to apply.
-
Application review will emphasize the candidate’s potential for a productive career in biomedical research and the impact of the iDRIV curriculum on the candidate’s specific needs and goals for success.

iTHRIV Informatics Concierge Services
The iTHRIV Informatics team supports the design and use of health research data and tools. Supported resources include:
-
The iTHRIV Portal and Research Data Commons: This tool accelerates health research through efficient discovery of relevant resources and events that are contributed by research administrators and other portal users. It supports secure, granular access to sensitive data while enabling cross-department, cross-school, cross-institution, and even public sharing of data when appropriate.
-
UVA Patient Data Exploration and Analysis Tools: These include tools to query structured electronic health data (TriNetX) as well as clinical notes data (Emerse).
-
National Patient Data Exploration and Analysis Tools: These include multi-institutional patient data research resources such as Epic Cosmos, NIH All of Us Researcher Workbench, and the NIH National COVID Cohort Collaborative and National Clinical Cohort Collaborative.
To receive a consultation from the iTHRIV Informatics team you can attend their Wednesday Office Hours from 12-1 PM EST: https://virginia.zoom.us/my/ithriv.informatics. If you are unable to attend at that time please send a request to iTHRIVAdmin@uvahealth.org.
